Coupon Lingo

$1/1, $1/2 : Denotes the value of a coupon. $1 off one item, $1 off two items and so on. 

Beep :
 If a register beeps when a coupon is scanned, it means the cashier needs to do something, like enter a price. 

Blinkie
 : Coupon from a dispenser attached to a store shelf, usually with a blinking light.

BOGO, B1G1 : Buy one get one free. 

B2G1 :
 Buy two get one free. 

BTFE
 : Box tops for education. 

CAT/Catalina
 : Coupons that print at the register after your purchase is complete. Usually, these are used like cash on your next purchase and generally can only be used at that store. Sometimes a manufacturer's coupon can be used at any store. 

CPN
 : Coupon. 

CRT
 : Cash register tape, usually prints on the bottom of your receipt. 

DND
 : Do Not Double. 

Double Coupon
 : A coupon that can be doubled in value (e.g. a $0.50/1 coupon becomes $1/1). 

ECB
 : Extra care bucks at CVS (loyalty program).

ETS : Excludes trial size.

EXP: Expires.

Filler : An item you purchase to get your total up to a certain amount, so you can use a percentage off coupon. 

GC
 : Gift card or gift certificate. 

GM
 : General Mills.

IVC : Instant value coupon. 

IPQ/ IP
 : Internet printable coupon. 

MFG/ MFR
 : Manufacturer. 

MQ/MFC
 : Manufacturer’s coupon. 

MIR
 : Mail-in rebate. 

NED
 : No expiration date. 

OOP
 : Out of pocket. 

OOS
 : Out of stock.

OYNO : On your next order.

P&G : Proctor & Gamble coupon insert found in the Sunday newspaper. 
Peelie : Coupon attached to an item’s packaging that can be peeled off and applied immediately or on a future purchase. 

PSA
 : Prices starting at. 

Q
 : Coupon. 

RP
 : Red Plum coupon insert found in the Sunday newspaper. 

RR
 : Register rewards at Walgreens (coupons for a future purchase). 

SCR
 : Single check rebate at Rite Aid (coupons for a future purchase). 

SS
 : Smart Source coupon insert found in the Sunday newspaper. 

Stacking
 : Using a manufacturer’s coupon AND a store coupon on one item to maximize savings.

Tear pad : A pad of rebate forms or coupons attached to a store shelf. 

TMF
 : Try me free. 

Triple Coupon
 : A coupon that can be tripled in value (e.g. a $0.25/1 coupon becomes $0.75/1).

UPC
 : Universal product code (i.e. bar code).

UPR : Up Rewards, a coupon you can earn on your register receipt at Rite Aid. 

WSL
 : While supplies last. 

WT, Winetag
 : A coupon hanging on the package of a product. 

WYB
 : When you buy.

V: Valassis coupon insert found in Sunday newspaper (same as RP or Red Plum insert).
